I was needing more information about what a surety and a surety bond is, what it entails and what it means to me if I am ever involved in such a situation.

A surety is a person who will guarantee to the court that you will abide by the conditions of your release. In certain cases, such as domestic assault, you may be required to live with your surety until the charges have been resolved.
A surety bond  is defined as a contract among at least three parties: the obligee - the party who is the recipient of an obligation. the principal - the primary party who will perform the contractual obligation. the surety - who assures the obligee that the principal can perform the task.
