The police called, do I have to speak to them?
I received a phone call from the police, what information am I supposed to give them by law?
Can I remain silent?
Will I be punished if I chose not to speak to them?
What are my rights in the province of Ontario regarding speaking or not speaking to the police?

If the
police have called you, you are likely being investigated. You are required to provide your name, address and date of birth and you should be polite of course, but beyond that you have a legal right to remain silent.
You should always exercise that right and if you are in doubt you should call us. Remember,
what you tell the police can later be used as evidence against you
